Grunt Work
I'd like you all to keep in mind that any book that doesn't have The Downtown Titans in the title is not a part of the Titans series. This story is a drama called Grunt Work. The story revolves around the title character, Demetrius Grunt, and his experience working as a chauffeur for an aristocratic family, the Patrons. In the beginning, Grunt is a fourteen-year-old orphan whose parents, sister, and brother-in-law have all recently died in a car crash. When he realizes that he and his three-year-old nephew, JC are to be sent to an orphanage, he revolts. In the second Act, Grunt has earned his drivers licence and is hired by Dr. Ricardo Patron Esq. to be the youths' chauffeur. In the third Act, Grunt is introduced to his colleagues and to the rest of the Patron family. He quickly befriends the Patrons' only daughter, Jacqueline, later known as Jackie (it is actually mentioned several times in the story that Jackie is interested in Grunt), and their older son Cash. In the fourth Act, Cash provokes Grunt and they get into a fight. Dr. Patron finds out and almost fires Grunt until he realizes that a lot of people are defending him. In the fifth Act, we meet Grunt's old friends and many of the teenagers in the story and JC meet up at a local shopping center. There, Grunt and his friends are arrested for attacking Jackie's ex-boyfriend, Manuel Blackford after Blackford is accused of stalking Jackie and insulting Dr. Patron. After the fifth Act, Grunt is bailed out of prison, but later has to go to a trial to avoid being locked up for a longer time. He and his friends, though being defended by Dr. Patron, his wife Aurora, and his brother-in-law and best friend Aaron Marisol, lose the trial. Grunt is sentenced to three to five years in juvenile penitentiary. He gets out only a year later, though, for good behavior. Other major characters include Anthony (Tony) King (the Patron elders' chauffeur), Gonzalo Zacarias (Zack) Violeta Godínez (the gardener), and Charles (Charlie) Stone (Grunt's best friend).
